Aizendo Shoman-in is a temple built by Prince Shotoku in 593. The temple, nicknamed “Aizen-san” by the locals, initially served as a “Shoyaku-in” where medicinal herbs were planted and given to the sick, and was known as a place of relief for the common people.
The pagoda, rebuilt by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1594, is the oldest structure in Osaka City and is designated as an important cultural property.
