Osaka Tenmangu Shrine is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, known as the god of learning. It is nicknamed “Tenma no Tenjin-san” by the locals, and even today you can see it overflowing with many students preparing for exams during the exam season.
Tenjin Matsuri, held from July 24 to 25 every year, is known as one of the three major festivals in Japan, along with Kanda Matsuri in Tokyo and Gion Matsuri in Kyoto.
