Tekijuku, an Edo-period building that quietly remains in the Kitahama business district, is the site of a cram school opened by Ogata Koan, a Dutch scholar at the end of the Edo period.
More than 1,000 students, including Yukichi Fukuzawa and Masujiro Omura, studied here.
The building is designated as a historic site and an important cultural property, and you can see the rooms where the students slept and studied.
